Survey ResponsesThe participants in the survey were asked three questions pertaining to Capoeira. They were general questions concerning involvement with Capoeira, and not intricately related to music or language in Capoeira. Due to this, the information may or may not benefit the analysis that follows. The data, however, is still important, and will be displayed for the reader to understand the importance of Capoeira in an average group member's life.
Question One
A common response to question one was that participating in capoeira on Tuesdays and Thursdays is something that tends to remain constant, as it relieves stress and is something people look forward to during the week. As Sarah Stanley (member) states, "practicing capoeira is a constant in my life. Every week, I find time to practice, even if it isn't with the group." Question Two The responses for this question were an overwhelming "yes", and the response I got from one member explained this sentiment. "Yes. Starting capoeira was the necessary point in my life that made me want to be more active so that I could accomplish more physically, like acrobatics in capoeira." Question Three The want and need to stay active was the primary reason given for a motivation, though I did not specify a particular goal for the motivation. Kayla Sutton, the group's president, stated "[she] always like to be busy and doing something", whereas another member responded "my motivation is my thorough enjoyment of life, which includes feeling good because of an active lifestyle". |
